In today\u2019s \u2018El Pais\u2019<\/a> newspaper, the national Spanish periodical, the front
\npage story is that the EU Court in Luxembourg considers present Spanish mortgage
\nlaw to be incompatible with European Law as it prevents Judges from protecting
\nhome owners from evictions.<\/p>\n

The report goes on to say that the Spanish legislation is contrary to a
\nEuropean directive of 1993 on consumer
\nprotection. This has come to light in a case brought by a judge in Catalu\u00f1a.<\/p>\n

This latest
\nruling will affect all current and future foreclosures and it is expected that
\nthe Spanish Government will have to change the law.  <\/p>\n
