Sandra Wrightson

Barrister académica

Licenciada en Derecho por la Universidad de Londres, también ostenta la Licenciatura en Filosofía y Letras de la Open University. Sandra Wrightson es  Barrister miembro del Honorable Middle Temple desde 1997.

A partir de 1997 ha trabajado en la firma De Cotta McKenna y Santafé como Barrister académica asesorando sobre todos las materias de Derecho Internacional Privado. Con una experiencia de trabajo en España de más de 10 años asesora con regularidad sobre cualquier materia de Derecho Internacional Privado, con particular conocimiento y dedicación a los asuntos jurisdiccionales civiles y mercantiles. También trabaja estrechamente con Antonio Díaz en asuntos judiciales en España y en Inglaterra. Es especialista, por sus conocimientos y experiencia, en la industria del timeshare. En el 2001 fue designada asesor legal honorario del Consulado Británico de Málaga.

Sandra Wrightson se encarga también de elaborar Certificados de Ley inglesa a otros despachos de abogados españoles en una amplia variedad  en el campo del Derecho Internacional Privado, el Derecho de Familia inglés y el resto de asuntos civiles en general.

Vera Liprandi

Our multi-lingual team is headed by Vera Liprandi, a dual qualified Spanish (Abogada) & Italian (Avvocato) lawyer. Born in Turin, Italy, Vera studied at the city’s prestigious University Faculty of Law and then went on to take her Spanish Law Degree. This was followed by a Masters in European Union & European Communities.

This impressive academic & legal background is enhanced by genuine, in-depth experience in commercial, property, land, conveyancing & timeshare law as well as business and contract law in the Canaries, Spain & Italy.

Jon Sutton

English Solicitor & Partner

Jon Sutton qualified as an English solicitor in 2003 with a background in accident investigation and the negotiation of personal injury claims in the UK Jon’s love of Spain led to his joining the firm of De Cotta Law in 2005. He now heads the Inheritance and Personal injury departments.

Jon came to the firm to build on the experienced inheritance and probate skills of the firm and now deals with very complex inheritance matters often involving more than one jurisdiction. He can advise both UK and Spanish nationals on dealing with English estates where a Grant of probate is required. Jon can explain the different tax regimes to private clients and to English, UK and Spanish lawyers. Jon is also responsible for wills and can help with drafting wills in both England and Spain to ensure that assets are protected and new regulations are taken into account.

With his background in Personal injury work Jon has now gained an international reputation for advising on cases where there is a Spanish, UK or international element. This is very helpful to foreign law firms as Jon has an understanding of procedures and the application of foreign law.

Javier Florido

Javier Florido is the senior Spanish partner at the firm. Javier has very strong litigation skills and he is able to advise on a broad range of matters including Personal Injury and Insolvency.

Javier appears regularly in the UK courts as an Expert Witness and provides expert reports on Personal Injury matters.

Javier brings a wealth of experience which helps clients to decide if they wish to seek settlement or to commence litigation. This can be for recovery of a personal debt, applying for charges against property or providing expert reports on Personal Injury matters.

He has also acted in major Debt recovery cases as well as boundary disputes and property cases. On Employment matters Javier is one of the few Adjudicators appointed by the Junta de Andalucia to decide on disputes between businesses and employees. This means he can provide sound advice to employers on the drafting of employment contracts, employment disputes and on all matters related to businesses operating in Spain.

Con John De Cotta, Jaime Santafé Mira fue socio fundador de la firma y ha sido abogado del Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid desde 1950. Ha trabajado como asesor legal del Ministerio de Urbanismo y Obras Públicas en materia de arrendamiento, urbanismo y licencias. Como especialista en Urbanismo y Planeamiento urbanístico ha actuado con regularidad ante los Tribunales de Madrid, ostentando también por su experiencia un reconocido prestigio en asuntos civiles y mercantiles.
