Welcome to the De Cotta Law Coín office, serving the vibrant inland area of Málaga province and beyond.
Coín is an ancient Andalucian town dating back to before Roman times. Nestled in the Rio Grande Valley, the town is a fast growing community of well over 20,000 people, of which foreign residents make up significant percentage.
Its central location is part of its popularity, as it is less that half an hour from the main coastal towns, such as Marbella, Fuengirola & Benalmadena as well as being close to Málaga capital and of course the beautiful countryside of the interior.
As well as the charming churches and town houses of old town, Coín boasts one of the regions best new shopping & leisure centres (La Trocha) as well as being the home to the film studios where the BBC soap, Eldorado was filmed!

Jon Sutton qualified as an English solicitor in 2003 with a background in accident investigation and the negotiation of personal injury claims in the UK Jon’s love of Spain led to his joining the firm of De Cotta Law in 2005. He now heads the Inheritance and Personal injury departments.
Jon came to the firm to build on the experienced inheritance and probate skills of the firm and now deals with very complex inheritance matters often involving more than one jurisdiction. He can advise both UK and Spanish nationals on dealing with English estates where a Grant of probate is required. Jon can explain the different tax regimes to private clients and to English, UK and Spanish lawyers. Jon is also responsible for wills and can help with drafting wills in both England and Spain to ensure that assets are protected and new regulations are taken into account.
With his background in Personal injury work Jon has now gained an international reputation for advising on cases where there is a Spanish, UK or international element. Working with our English lawyers he provides advice on Personal injury matters to many UK law firms and has also taken many successful claims in Spain for the victims of accidents.
Javier is also one of a small number of appointed arbitrators dealing with employment claims for the regional authority in Andalucia which means he can draw on this experience to advise employers and small businesses on employment issues. Property litigation and insolvency is another strong area of his practise and he maintains a niche criminal law practise drawing on many years of experience in the Spanish courts.
