At the heart of the stunning Costa del Sol and Costa del Golf, our Mijas-Costa / Calahonda office is the headquarters of De Cotta Law. Established for over 30 years, De Cotta Law serves the international foreign resident and residential tourist communities across southern Spain. Our office is well placed for easy access from both the eastern and western Costa del Sol.

    Conveyancing partner

    Conveyancing partner of the firm for more than 15 years Gisele van Meer is acknowledged as one of the leading specialists in this field with a highly respected reputation in Spain.

    Gisele has experience and knowledge of property matters such as contracts of purchase for off-plan properties, inland and rural properties, licensing for building projects and taxation of property.

    As the partner in charge Gisele runs a very busy conveyancing department with a team of bi-lingual administrators and secretaries which is vital when dealing with a property purchase in Spain. Added to this is her ability to fluently speak 5 languages Spanish, Dutch, English, French and German. This is very helpful to clients buying in another country who need clear advice in their own language.

  • Maria Carmagnole

    Legal Secretary

    Maria, originally from the UK, is De Cotta Law’s longest serving Paralegal, offering a wealth of expertise to clients.

    Based at our Mijas-Costa/Calahonda office, Maria provides friendly and efficient bi-lingual, English/Spanish client service, including greeting clients visiting the office and liaising with clients over the phone and via email.

    Maria also assists in the drafting of Powers of Attorneys, Spanish Wills, collating the necessary documentation for Inheritance matters, and also preparing applications for Spanish Fiscal Numbers (NIEs) for our international clients.

    In her spare time she enjoys music and reading.

  • Beatriz Rodríguez Trapote

    CONVEYANCER

    An experienced Conveyancer Beatriz Rodriguez is originally from Asturias, in the north west of Spain. Beatriz has lived, studied and worked for some years in the UK, where she was a Spanish teacher. Beatriz has also taken the ILEX certificates to improve her skills as a conveyancer working mainly with British clients.

    Beatriz has now been working in property purchases and sales in Spain for more than 10 years. She has an important role in our busy conveyancing department at our Mijas Costa office. She can explain the procedures and notarial systems for registration of property ensuring that purchases and sales are completed professionally and correctly.

    Another important aspect of her work is maintaining contacts with professionals such as valuers, engineers and Architects which is particularly important in relation to ensuring licensing and local and regional rules are complied with.
